A Three-Day Feast at La Scala to Begin the New Year


Welcome in the New Year at The Sukhothai Shanghai with a three-day culinary experience featuring the The Sukhothai Bangkok’s Executive Chef David Tamburini in January.

The Sukhothai Bangkok’s Executive Chef David Tamburini will visit Shanghai for the first time this year and treat guests to a three-day culinary experience at La Scala at The Sukhothai Shanghai on 15-17 January 2019. The signature dishes that will be presented are crafted by Chef David for the legendary Bangkok restaurant when it reopened in November 2017, featuring seasonal ingredients and modern Italian culinary techniques to give diners a taste of innovative yet legendary flavours.

Selected dishes include caprese, a new interpretation of a traditional salad with tomato tartare, basil oil and D.O.P Campania buffalo mozzarella bavaroise; pan-seared Hokkaido scallops with Jerusalem artichokes, ham and chestnut consommé and Norcia black truffle; homemade toasted breadcrumbs spaghettini with Sicilian style sardines and dill, pine nuts and raisins; Glacier 51 Patagonian toothfish combining flavours of smoked cauliflower puree, turnip top and spicy Induja salami; camomile and thyme pan-roasted lamb rack paired with seasonal vegetable casserole; and a classic affogato al caffe served with Tahiti vanilla ice cream in a dark chocolate shell and white coffee foam.

This six-course dinner is priced at RMB 588 per person, with a wine pairing option available.

Chef Davids first time in Shanghai will be full of excitement as he brings his favourite dishes to the guests of La Scala.

Lunch service will also be available during the three days with a three-course meal of pan-seared Hokkaido scallops, pan-roasted lamb rack with seasonal vegetable casserole, and affogato al caffe for RMB 208 per person.

Chef David Tamburini hails from Tuscany, Italy and developed a passion and for vegetarian cooking, especially after graduating from university. Chef David worked with famous figures including Pietro Leeman and Paolo Lopriore. In his later endeavours, he received a Michelin star at Palazzo Failla, Sicily, and during his tenure at Ristorante La Gazza Ladra, the restaurant scored high marks in leading Italian food guide “L’Espresso”, and was named 50th Best Restaurant of Italy by Touring Club Italy.
