Coming as an authentic Indonesian dining concept brought by PTT Family, Kaum is inspired by the archipelago’s indigenous tribes. Serving the authentic Indonesian gastronomy richness, Kaum will set their Jakarta Outpost as an expansion.

Marking PTT Family’s commitment to place Indonesia’s rich culinary heritage at the centre of the world gastronomic map, Kaum celebrates and presents a taste of Indonesia’s culinary origins, inspired by the archipelago’s indigenous tribes, to a global audience. Kaum, which means “clan” or “tribe” in Bahasa Indonesia, pays tribute to more than 600 ethnic groups that make up Indonesia. Kaum’s uniqueness lies on explored vast islands of Indonesia and the team worked closely with remote tribal communities and independent local producers to develop Kaum’s menu and discover Indonesia’s rare and almost-forgotten ingredients and cooking techniques.

Continuing their major success in Hong Kong last 2016, in March 2017, Kaum Hong Kong will take part in the prestigious “Taste of Hong Kong”dining event alongside Michelin-starred eateries. As the only Indonesian cuisine participant, Kaum aims to introduce the country’s rich and diverse flavours to global audience. Their second outpost in Seminyak Bali, Kaum at Potato Head Beach Club will participate in the popular Ubud Food Festival, bringing its signature take on authentic Indonesian food to a wide variety of gourmands from across Indonesia and beyond.

Kaum Jakarta, located in Menteng, will not only showcase the authentic taste of Indonesia with food and drinks offering in a modern and casual setting, but will also function as a research centre and hub for the team to develop new menus and study Indonesia’s unique ingredients and cooking techniques. Kaum Jakarta’s menu will reinstate the fundamental focus of Indonesia’s culinary heritage by incorporating the highest-quality, regionally sourced products from small-scale, responsible producers and tropical indigenous ingredients.
