Announced as its new Director of Culinary at Keraton at The Plaza, Chef Rafael Gil will immediately start putting his hands on the wheel of the kitchen team. Contributing his long list of experience, Chef Rafael is more than proud and excited to join the Jakarta team.

Also known as Chef Rafa, a Brazilian talent with upscale culinary skill, Rafael Gil, will join Keraton at The Plaza, A Luxury Collection Hotel Jakarta this month. Having graduated from business school, turned out Chef Rafa realised his real passion and skill in culinary. It didn’t take too long for him to join the world-class Michelin-rated restaurants, including Martin Berasategui in San Sebastian and EVO restaurant in Barcelona.

Starting 2013, Chef Rafa began his career in Asia by opening Catalunya in Singapore, then joined Ozone at The Ritz-Carlton Hongkong in 2015. His vibrant selection of avant-garde Spanish tapas has brought an extremely new level in the world of culinary. Mastering all the food and beverage outlets under the hotel, such as Bengawan Restaurant, Keraton Lounge and La Moda, Chef Rafa was appointed by General Manager Cora Stuart.

By the arrival of Chef Rafa on board, Keraton will have lots of exciting culinary experiences polished up and coming soon to quench Jakarta’s food afficionados palate. The warm and cheerful Chef Rafa’s initial breakthrough at the opulent Keraton at The Plaza will be his very own; Rafa’s Private Kitchen. The concept came from the idea of inviting friends to his home and amaze guests with a menu customised to their preference.

Available for a minimum of four guests at IDR 998,000 ++ per person, the personalized menu offers 7-courses featuring Chef Rafa’s recommendations. Chef Rafa will serve each dish personally, with detailed and interactive explanation on the ingredients and the cooking method, where guests are welcome to ask questions and share their feedback with him. A special private bar corner is also available for guests to create their very own cocktails from a range of selected liqueurs and ingredients.
