The Day of Silence at Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort

Reunite with family and friends and recharge the senses with Bali’s Day of the Silence at Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort.

After the celebration and the grand festivities of New Year, Bali sets to celebrate the Saka New Year, called Nyepi, where all inhabitants of the island are required to abide by the rules and bring all activities to a halt for 24 hours.

The “Day of The Silence” is an island-wide event where all signs of ‘life’ stops for the day. The ‘Four Nyepi Prohibitions’ that people cannot do is no fire, no travel, no activity, and no entertainment. Villages come together to decorate their area with papier-mâché effigies called Ogoh-Ogoh that are built throughout the weeks leading up to the New Year.

The Day of The Silence will surely bring peace and harmony back to people and the island of Bali, an event which happens every year.

Three days prior to the silence highlight the rituals of colourful processions known as the Melasti pilgrimages. This is when long walks on the coastline and where elaborate purification ceremonies take place. Then on the evening before Nyepi is when the festivities commence with blessings at the family temple and participate in the ritual of chasing away ‘evil forces’ – hitting pots and pans or loud instruments along with a fiery bamboo torch. These ‘demons’ are manifested as the said ogoh-ogoh that are paraded in the streets. The Nyepi Eve parade usually starts at around 19:00 local time.

During the ‘Day of the Silence’, people look to relax and reflect, while others can consider this a chance for Mother Nature to ‘reboot’ herself for one day.

Shine Spa will surely bring the energy back into the body and mind again during this special time.

At the Sheraton, family and friends can recharge the sense and celebrate this peaceful moment with their special package inclusive of: daily buffet breakfast for 2 persons at Feast Restaurant; one time buffet dinner at Feast Restaurant; one time buffet lunch at Feast Restaurant; complimentary one extra bed for children below 12 years old; 50% off food & beverage purchase for children below 12 years old; 15% off food & beverage (excluding alcoholic beverages); 15% off spa treatment at Shine Spa; free access to Play@Sheraton kids club; free drink bottle for children below 12, to use for free refills with chilled juices and hot chocolate; and plenty of complimentary resort activities on Nyepi Day.

This special and relaxing break will start at IDR 4,800,000 nett per room for a stay on 6-8 March 2019. For more information or bookings, call +62 361 846 5555 or email to Reservations.Balikuta@sheraton.com or visit www.sheratonbalikuta.com.
