Unlocking Myanmar’s Great Mysteries with Grand Mercure
With an awe-inspiring view overlooking the famed Schwedagon Pagoda, Grand Mercure is pleased to announce the opening of its first property in Myanmar.
Emerging as a popular travel destination, Myanmar is one of Southeast Asia’s largest and most diverse countries with mystery and undiscovered destinations worthy of beauty and charm no one has captured yet. The new Grand Mercure Yangon Golden Empire will boast 175 guest rooms and suites designed by local artist Pyar Dade. His work will feature detailed hand-painted ceilings inspired by colourful sapphire, emerald, gold and ruby gemstones that will set the mood and ambiance of each room.
As the first Grand Mercure in Myanmar, the company hopes the opening of Grand Mercure Yangon Golden Empire encapsulates the cultural touchstone of the destination and heritage in bringing local stories to life.
Culinary offerings spread across the hotel are the restaurant, deli, and pool bar. Flavours Restaurant will offer a nostalgic selection of diverse international and Asian cuisine, as well as halal food; Mahura Deli will deliver specialty cakes and fresh pastries, as well as a casual meal along with a selection of gourmet coffees, teas or a glass of wine; and Kent Pool Bar will host a selection of light snacks, finger foods and cocktails beside the outdoor swimming pool surrounded by a tropical lush garden.
A unique feature that guests will enjoy is the well-equipped wellness area complete with an outdoor swimming pool, children’s pool, and a fitness centre. The spa is outfitted with an open-air Jacuzzi, sauna and steam bath, while a nearby golf course completes the suite of leisure facilities.
Grand Mercure Yangon Golden Empire boasts two state-of-the-art ballrooms that can host up to 400 guests with a large pre-event function area and seven meeting rooms that feature natural daylight overlooking the beautiful Yangon skyline, perfect for meetings, private parties or weddings.
