A Fancy Combination of Rum Pop Up & Barber at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong

This May, another fancy thing is coming to The Mandarin Barber at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong as they launch the Rum Barber Pop Up. This happening is offering guests an enhanced and bespoke rum appreciation experience.

Reminiscent of a private gentleman’s club, The Mandarin Barber offers traditional shaving and hair services together with restorative grooming treatments for men. With this addition, discerning gentlemen seeking a sophisticated hideaway will enjoy a wide variety of Caribbean rum, crafted Cuban cocktails, and authentic tasters prepared by our Executive Chef Robin Zavou. Beverage Manager Agung Prabowo, including the ultra-premium Havana Club Máximo Extra Ańejo from Cuba, has carefully curated the selection of prestigious rums.

Next time you’re popping up into The Mandarin Barber, you are going to be greeted with three bottles imported to Hong Kong and exclusively available at the Rum Barber Pop Up. Other rum selections include Havana Club Unión and Havana Club Selección de Maestros from Cuba, Appleton Estate 21 years from Jamaica, and Plantation XO from Barbados. Among Cuban tasters served are espanadas, chicharrones, Cuban sandwich, and flan Cubano priced between HKD178 to HKD198.

The Rum Barber Pop Up will be available daily from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. where guests will be able to complement their treatments at the urban retreat with these new refreshments. For those preferring privacy, the option to privatize the entire Mandarin Barber after 8 p.m. as a speakeasy is also available.

The Mandarin Barber is inspired by Art Deco chic from 1930s Shanghai, with dark wood veneers and earthy colours. The result is a comfortable, masculine urban retreat encompassed with the latest technology such as in-mirror television screens, allowing gentlemen to keep track of their favourite sports or follow the markets. If you want to experience another level of having a fancy grooming, book your visit at +852 2825 4088 or by emailing [email protected].
