Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali Celebration for World Turtle Day

To celebrate World Turtle Day and to help contribute in bettering the environment, Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali hosted a fun turtle release activity with Yayasan Penyu Lestari.

Yayasan Penyu Lestari is a local foundation committed to turtle conservation. In house guests of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali were invited to adopt a baby turtle for a token fee and helped release them back into their natural habitat on the shoreline of Jimbaran Beach. The money raised was to help the foundation continue its mission to protect newly laid turtle eggs from predators and arrange for further release programmes. Guests then got a certificate and token souvenir as a commemorative piece of the event.

The local people of Bali have long held turtles in esteem, relating to Hindu mythology whereby the world is believed to rest on the backs of four dragons standing on the shell of a giant turtle.

The collaboration of Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali and Yayasan Penyu Lestari helped newly ready baby turtles off into the wild and ready to take on the world.

World Turtle Day was created to protect turtles and their disappearing habitats around the world. This event was quite fitting for the resort as Jimbaran Beach is a popular breeding ground for Bali’s endangered green sea turtles.

This event generated great awareness by highlighting the ongoing plight for their survival and how we as a community can fix it. This event also goes hand-in-hand with Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali and their vision to help try and benefit for future generations.

Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali is designed as a family lifestyle resort featuring 297 elegantly furnished rooms and suites and immerse themselves in Bali’s laidback island lifestyle located near the Jimbaran Beach.
