Indulge with the third episode of Fairmont Jakarta’s “When Jakarta Meets” series: “When Jakarta Meets Japan” from September 18 to 22, 2019. “When Jakarta Meets” is the annual signature event of Fairmont Jakarta that started in 2017 with The Savoy, London and USA in 2018. In 2019, the “When Jakarta Meets” series at Fairmont Jakarta chooses Japan as this year’s theme.

The “When Jakarta Meets Japan” event will showcase the expertise of guest chefs and mixologist from Japan such as Executive Chef of Senshu restaurant, Tatsuya Sakamoto; Pastry Chef Yuki Nakamura from Swissôtel Nankai, Osaka and Grand Mixologist / Bar Owner from Mixology Salon Tokyo, Shuzo Nagumo. The event itself will feature five key events, from afternoon tea in Peacock Lounge, party in K22 Bar, bar takeover in Barong Bar, gastronomic experience in VIEW restaurant and buffet dining in Spectrum.

On September 18 to 21, 2019, VIEW Restaurant will present the Japanese Gastronomic Dinner by Chef Tatsuya Sakamoto from Senshu restaurant. The 8-course dinner will include delicacies such as Foie Gras Chawanmushi, Abalone with Liver Sauce and Black Truffle, as well as Kagoshima Beef Sirloin. Available at IDR 2,000,000++/ person.

On September 19, 2019, Barong Bar will feature Grand Mixologist Shuzo Nagumo from the Mixology Salon in Tokyo, Japan – one of Asia’s 50 Best Bars – in a Bar Takeover. Founded by master mixologist / bar owner, Shuzo Nagumo, Mixology Salon’s specialty is the “tea tale”: Cocktails made with high quality Japanese green tea leaves. The Japanese cocktail-style creations are available at IDR 150,000++/glass or IDR 500,000++ for 2-hour Free-flow.

The highlight of the series will be the “Night in Tokyo” party at K22 Bar on September 20, 2019. Guests can sip on cocktails prepared by the award-winning Grand Mixologist Shuzo Nagumo while they enjoy live performance from Hiroaki Kato, dancers, and Taiko group. Asia’s Next Top Model finalist, Jesslyn Lim, will guide the night as the MC and DJ sisters – Yasmin and Freya – will take the night away with more beats. The Night in Tokyo Party is priced at IDR 300,000 nett per person.

Enjoy Japanese-inspired Afternoon Tea by Chef Yuki Nakamura – Pastry Chef from Swissôtel Nankai Osaka in Osaka, Japan – at Peacock Lounge from September 19 to 21, 2019. Taste his delectable creations such as Sakura Pana Cotta, Wasanbon Roll Cake, Matcha Tiramisu, Yuzu Tart, and Mousse with Matsutake Mushroom and Chocolate Milk as well as the Mitarashi Dango for only IDR 588,000++ per set, inclusive of two beverages (coffee or tea).

The Japanese guest chef, pastry chef and mixologist will collaborate in the Taste of Japan Sunday Brunch that will be held at Spectrum on September 22, 2019. The buffet spread will feature extensive Japanese dishes from different regions like Kyoto, Nagasaki, Hokkaido and Okinawa as well as exciting desserts spread like Japanese Strawberry Shortcake, Black Sesame Pudding, Japanese Sweet Dumplings, Sweet Potato Tart, Warabimochi and Dorayaki. Cocktail creations from Mixology Salon’s Shuzo will also complement the the tasteful Japanese brunch. The Taste of Japan Sunday Brunch will be available at IDR688,000++ per person, including a welcome mocktail.
