Fantastic culinary journey begins at Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. A sight to behold in the heart of the city, the hotel is a place to be for discerning diners who are looking for a top-notch fine-dining experience. Boasting eight award-winning dining venues comprising of five restaurants and three bars and lounges, Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur caters to all tastes and palates, setting the bar high for a complete dining destination in the city.

For French fare, diners can visit Restaurant Lafite. Designed by Adam Tihany, a preeminent American hospitality designer, Lafite is a striking venue known for its stylish and contemporary design. It has a unique circular dining area with a sea-green glass water feature in the centre. Hues of green, brown and ivory in the décor give it a timeless, elegant feel. Seating up to 75 guests, Lafite has a private dining room which seats up to 10. Pair your dishes with exquisite fine wines from France, Italy, Spain and Germany, and from the best vineyards of the New World. Prior to dinner, enjoy a glass of champagne, wine and cocktails at the newly established Red Room. Lafite opens for lunch at 12pm to 2.30pm from Monday to Friday, dinner at 7pm to 10.30pm from Monday to Saturday and public holidays, and closed on Sundays.

Guests are greeted with the spectacular sake and wine cellar, and a bar with private lounge for guests to mingle for drinks before the main course. For a more intimate occasion, Zipangu has two private rooms and five semi-private enclaves. The live kitchen featuring sushi, teppanyaki and tempura counters allows guests to watch the masterful chefs preparing the dishes.

Helmed by Japanese head chef Nao Takeshita, Zipangu uses only the finest and freshest ingredients from Japan, with signature dishes such as Fresh Sea Urchin Pudding with Consomme Jelly and Caviar, Grilled Gindara with Saikyo Miso, Grilled Australian Wagyu ‘Kobe Premium’, Grilled Foie Gras and Seared Sea Urchin and Rice with Corn and Truffles in Claypot. In addition, guests can opt for menu sets for both lunch and dinner. Must-try dishes during dinner are Australian Wagyu and King Crab, as well as Prime Sushi and Teppanyaki sets. Zipangu opens daily for lunch at 12pm to 2.30pm and dinner at 6.30pm to 10.30pm.

Signature dishes at Shang Palace are Braised Abalone with Sun-dried Scallop Stuffed in Winter Melon, Roasted Lamb Rack with Dried Chilli and Garlic, Pan-fried Foie Gras with Vinegar Sauce and Stuffed Scallop with Spicy Bean Sauce and Wok-fried Red and White Rice with Seafood and Sakura Prawns, among other dishes. Shang Palace opens for lunch, from Monday to Saturday at 12pm to 2.30pm and 10.30am to 2.30 pm for Sunday and public holidays. Dinner is served daily from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.

Meanwhile, if you are looking for sandwiches, breads, pastries, cake, chocolates and cookies for takeaway or eat in, or coffee and tea, head over to Lemon Garden 2Go, a deli, café and food retail shop. Lemon Garden opens daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 6am to 11.30pm. Lemon Garden 2Go opens from Monday to Friday at 8am to 6.30pm, Saturday from 9am to 5pm, and closed on Sundays and public holidays.

For casual drinks on Friday night after work, head over to Arthur’s Bar and Grill, where you can enjoy a wide selection of liquor, wines and beers while watching live sports matches with your friends

The menu at the bar ranges from western to local Malaysian specialties, from tapas to Nachos to Spicy Chicken Wings, Garlic Prawns with dried chilli and Yorkshire pudding with pulled beef, Arthur’s Beef Burger, Minced Meat and Mushroom Pie and Fish & Chips alongside Char Kway Teow, Malaysian Satay and Seafood Mee Mamak, down to vegetarian dishes. Operating hours varies.

Finally, the Lobby Lounge offers a relaxed and decadent Afternoon Tea served daily from 3pm to 6pm, with a rotating menu based on the festive season. In the evening, a band performs from 8.30pm onwards every day except on Sundays. The Lobby Lounge opens daily from 9am to 1am.
