Kembali Tempo Doeloe Takes Earth Hour to Solo’s Royal Era

Celebrate Earth Hour and take a trip to the olden days with Alila Solo’s special Kembali Tempo Doeloe evening.

Ever wonder what it would be like to experience Solo’s royal era? Recreating a period of time completely is no easy task, but Alila Solo is taking on the challenge in an attempt to bring guests back to the old days with their special gathering, Kembali Tempo Doeloe, at the end of March.

In conjunction with this year’s edition of Earth Hour on Saturday, March 30, 2019, an event where the global community is set to turn their lights off for a whole hour to put a spotlight on our environment. The annual event is part of the world’s largest grassroots movement, and to celebrate the 13th edition, Alila Solo has prepared a special evening comprising of Javanese food, music and dance, seeking to invite guests to the olden days.

A perfect spot for a relaxing evening under the stars, the event will be held at Largo Poolside, which is located on the 6th floor of the hotel. The open space offers the kind of breeze that will make the evening even more enjoyable, as Alila Solo will transform this venue into an Indonesian night market. The festivities will find its way onto guests’ heart as the hotel mixes traditions with modern twists.

Earth Hour represents the power of the people. As accelerating climate change and staggering biodiversity loss threaten the future of our planet, Earth Hour 2018-2020 seeks to spark much-needed conversations on the need for urgent action. Photo courtesy of Alila Solo.

With a nostalgic atmosphere set in motion, amid the flickers of candle lamps and lanterns that will accompany the evening as “lights out” commences, the air will be even more pungent with enticing aroma of traditional Indonesian street food, served buffet-style. Guests will get to enjoy not only the feast of flavours, of course, but also a taste of true Javanese culture in the form of live local music and dance performances, including the traditional gamelan and spellbinding fire dance.

Sign yourself up for an incredible evening and shine a light on environmental issues with style at Alila Solo. For more information and to make your reservations, visit or email [email protected].
