The next Chinese New Year is happening real soon, and Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta is ready to greet the Year of the Metal Rat which falls on Saturday, 25 January 2020 with a series of special treats and enriching activities for its valued guests. The Chinese New Year festival is an annual celebration of a new beginning and bright new day, while according to the Chinese culture, rat signifies wealth and abundance.
In the event of honouring the tradition of Chinese New Year and the Cap Go Meh, the final and the 15th day of the Chinese New Year, the renowned Chinese restaurant JIA at Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta has prepared an array of culinary delights with extraordinary gastronomic flavours, with two options of exclusive Chinese New Year set menus, Xin Nian Kuai Le at IDR 1,188,000++ per person and Gong Xi Fa Cai at IDR 1,388,000++ per person, which are available from 18 January to 8 February 2020. On top of that, JIA has also prepared a premium “all-you-can-eat” lunch, which starts at IDR 428,000++ per person.
Crispy, tender and delicious—the culinary favourites of Chinese New Year 2020, Crispy Roasted Duck and Crispy Suckling Pig—are among the guest-favourite dishes. This time, prices start at IDR 508,000++ for Crispy Roasted Duck and IDR 1,638,000++ for Crispy Sucking Pig. The “Prosperity Toss” salad Yu Sheng is certainly a mandatory in traditional Chinese dish, which symbolises a wish for abundance and prosperity throughout the year of 2020. The Yu Sheng comes in two options: the small one at IDR 228,000++ and the large one is at IDR 428,000++. Adding up to the exciting entertainment, Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta presents the traditional Lion Dance or Barongsai performance at the venue, on both Chinese New Year’s Eve and on Chinese New Year’s Day. Showcased in all restaurants, the Lion dance performance will entice the audience, while the God of Fortune delivers chocolates that symbolise luck and prosperity to all guests.
The five-star accommodation has also prepared a variety of Chinese New Year’s hampers and goodies, in two options: Longevity and Prosperity. Longevity includes Smiley Cookies, Almond Cookies, Home-made Chili Oil, Cashew Nuts with Honey and Sparkling Juice, while Prosperity includes Almond Cookies, Home-made XO Sauce, Cashew Nuts with Honey, Chicken Floss and Red Wine. Longevity is priced at IDR 1,088,000 net, while Prosperity is priced at IDR 1,188,000 net. In addition, JIA also presents a Koi-fish shaped Nian Gao or Chinese New Year’s cake, a perfect gift for your loved ones. Based on the Chinese legend, Koi fish symbolise success and luck. Prrced at IDR 488,000 net, the special hampers and Nian Gao are available to order from JIA Restaurant, from 10 to 26 January 2020.
