Thailand’s Annual Wonderfruit Festival Returns for Its Sixth Edition in December 2019 at Pattaya

A celebration of art, music, food and ideas rolled into one, Wonderfruit Festival 2019 is reimagined as a sustainable pop-up city to catalyse positive global impact

Recognised as one of the world’s most distinctive music festival, Wonderfruit Festival is set to return for its sixth edition from Thursday to Monday, 12 to 16 December 2019, at the Fields at Siam Country Club, Pattaya, Thailand. Following its extensive five years’ experience, Wonderfruit has changed the festival landscape with a reimagined sustainable pop-up city concept that inspires global citizens for a positive change, combining art, music, food and ideas into a giant festival celebration that stands out on its own.

Founded by Pranitan “Pete” Phornprapha, Wonderfruit has envisioned itself as a sustainable utopia where eco-friendly solutions and inspiring encounters bring people together. By reimagining every aspect of a city’s infrastructure in ways that are innovative and inspiring as well as creating meaningful opportunities for human interaction, the Wonderfruit team aims to build a world where everyone can contribute in a positive way. Wonderfruit is produced by Scratch First, a Thai-based social enterprise, which aims to use the arts as a means to engage and create communities of sustainable and socially responsible growth.

In creating the lively utopia that is Wonderfruit, a handful of creative forces from local and overseas, diverse regional and international talents, as well as many influences have contributed in shaping this year’s much-anticipated festival. The vibrant culmination is built on six key pillars at its core: Music, Art & Architecture, Family, Farm to Feasts, Talks & Workshops and Wellness. All of these elements portray Wonderfruit’s aim to create a meaningful environmental impact on a larger scale. In the Art & Architecture, international and local artists create installations, stages and unforgettable experiences in dazzling forms which are innovatively and sustainably built.

At the Scratch Talks in the Eco Pavilion, inspiring speakers and powerful panels with perspective-shifting ideas will share stories about Live, Love and Wonder which move the mind and stir the soul. Join the unique sessions guided by global practitioners to rediscover the wellness within at Wonderness, where participants can find over 100 wellbeing activities, therapies and experiences from diverse cultures and traditions around the world, such as yoga, gong baths and transcendental dance. Farm to Feasts presents three different dining experiences: Wonder Feasts, Wonder Kitchen and Pop-up Kitchens. Family offers immersive adventures for all ages, while Workshops are the opportunity to learn hands-on skills and share the knowledge.

Highlights this year from Phase 1 lineup is the celebrated Musicity project, in which DJ and music producer Nick Luscombe teams up with the local musicians, producers and performers from the Erased Tapes label, namely Daniel Brandt & Eternal Something, Douglas Dare, Hatis Noit, Midori Hirano and Rival Consoles, to produce original music interpretations of iconic locations in Bangkok. The architecture-inspired composition will be brought live to the Theatre Stage as a global project that brings the city to The Fields for the first time.

Beatboxing legend Beardyman unleashes his trademark blistering style and flow, Raphäel Top-Secret and John Gómez push the boundaries of club music and Sarathy Korwar showcases the frantic sounds of his unique spiritual jazz, with many more star-studded names on the list.
